This house is almost complete..

Thanks to all of you who donated; desks, TVs, couches, chairs, dining table/chairs, dishes, silverwares, cups, pots/pans, linens, comforters, dressers, a laptop computer, and countless bags of clothes, and personal items such as toys and videos for kids..just to name a few...

And, WOW, Rick has a beutiful Mitsubishi to drive to work(and it has air, too).

We are picking up a queen bed on Saturday... how great it is to know so many of you(including children) are so wonderful.

Thank you for all of your deligent prayers, good wishes and encouragement sent our way. Our dog Gemini is now able to walk a few blocks without coughing.

We hope someday, we will be able to do the same.

Gemini's vet bill has been paid! Hooray!!

Susan on Weston left us the following info in a comment:
"Thank you to EVERYONE that mailed and dropped off donations to help with the Gemini fund. With all the donations that arrived, we were able to cover her vet bill! I am still receiving checks and will make sure that he Cummings receive them immediately. Please note the Trust Fund information for further donations. Again, Thank you to everyone that donated time, money and items. I am SO glad to hear that the family is getting settled. Susan on Weston"

I know I'm not alone in saying that when I read the part in the Daily Breeze article about Gemini refusing to leave the elderly woman, and about how the dog was unconscious for 20 minutes and almost died, I just lost it. I choked up as I read the article to my husband. Three cheers for the firefighters who got Gemini (and the woman!) oxygen quickly, for the vets who worked for days to restore her health and who generously waived $500 (20%!)of their fees, and for the people who pitched in to pay the rest of her $2000 vet bill. You all demonstrate and remind us of the inner seed of goodness in humankind. Thank you!

And most of all, three cheers for a four-legged angel named Gemini. Good girl, Gemini!

125 Paseo de las Delicas, RB

Hi everyone,
Our new address is as above! It's a wonderful place. The owners were willing to bend on the lease length , and accepted both a cat and a dog. Their names are Minks and Gemini.

It's empty; so it does't feel like a home yet. But I'm sure as the place is filled with things, it will be a nice place to stay. It is in a beutiful neighborhood and looking forward to meet new neighbors as well.

We will miss our community, Walteria..."There's no place like home!"

Our family is in awe with your generousity, kindness, and support. We are greatful to everyone for your prayers.

Cummings

Thank you for helping!

The Cummings family suffered the loss of their home and belongings (and almost their dog!) in an extensive fire. See the article in the Daily Breeze, here.

Because this family has two autistic children (one of whom also has Downs Syndrome), this is a special situation. We hope you'll help in even a small way. We created this blog as a central place to come to see what the Cummings family really needs. They will have the ability to update this list as they receive items, so we can really zero in on what will be most helpful to them.

A trust fund for donations has been set up, and checks can be made out to CapitalSource Bank, (very important-- in the "memo" line, put "Account number 2600-35732, Cummings"). Mail it to 3440 Carson Street, First Floor, Torrance, Ca. 90503. If you have any questions, you can all 310-793-0087 and ask for the Asst. Branch Mgr. Darla Jaramillo.

The Cummings family has moved into a temporary home while their house is being repaired, which will take at least a year. They lost everything, nothing was salvagable. Your generous efforts to help us obtain the items on this list are greatly appreciated. Thank you and God bless you.

ITEMS NEEDED
(We're happy to report that the community has been amazingly generous, and most "items needed" have been gratefully received. On 8/4/08 we updated the "items needed list" to the following. Thank you!!)

This is current as of 8/4/08
2 beds, either Queen or Full Size.
They have bedding for Queen size beds, but not for full so if you bring a full size bed, can you bring bedding too?
1 end table
1 coffee table
1 small desk and a chair for it
Cutlery (knives)

Donations of items can be dropped off at their temporary home at 125 Paseo De Las Delicas, Redondo Beach. Please call first, so they can make sure they're home to meet you.
